How a round works

In Teen Patti, each player receives three cards — which is exactly why it is called "Teen Patti", meaning three cards. A standard 52-card deck is used, though larger tables may run two decks together. Before the round begins, everyone places a set "boot" amount into the ante pot.

The dealer distributes three cards to each player one at a time. Players then take turns making their decision — whether to play without looking at their cards ("blind") or after looking at them ("seen"). A blind player bets half the amount of a seen player but also benefits from their own set of rules.

Players can stay in by placing a "chaal" or fold by packing their hand. Two players can also go directly to a "side show" or "show" — in that case, the one with the weaker hand exits. At the end, whoever remains at the table or shows the strongest hand in a show wins the entire pot.

21+ This game is for persons aged 21 and above only. Play responsibly.

Steps in a round

  • Everyone submits the boot and the dealer distributes the cards
  • Each player decides to go blind or seen
  • Players take turns placing a chaal or folding
  • A side show can be requested from the player next to you
  • The best hand in the show wins the pot

Hand rankings and scoring

Hand value in Teen Patti is determined by the combination of cards. The rankings from strongest to weakest are listed below. Note that Ace counts as the highest card, but it can also serve as the lowest in an A-2-3 sequence.

Rank Hand name Description
1 Trio / Trips Three cards of the same value. The highest is three Aces.
2 Straight Flush / Pure Sequence Three consecutive cards of the same suit. A-K-Q is the highest.
3 Straight / Sequence Three consecutive cards of different suits.
4 Flush / Color Any three cards of the same suit, not in sequence.
5 Pair Two cards of the same value. A higher pair beats a lower one.
6 High Card None of the above combinations — only the highest single card counts.

Tiebreaker rules

If two players have the same type of hand, the higher card decides. For equal Trios, A-A-A ranks above all. For equal Pairs, the third card settles it. For High Card, comparison starts from the highest card downward.

Against the dealer or against other players

Teen Patti is primarily a multiplayer game — players compete against each other, and the dealer only distributes cards and oversees the pot. It works like poker, where the best hand takes the pot.

At bangor, Teen Patti is available in live casino format, where a real dealer distributes cards via live video stream. Other real players can also be at the same table in this format. Some variants also offer the option to play against the dealer, who has a set qualifying hand.

Useful tips for beginners

  • Start by playing blind — practice playing without looking at your cards first; the bets are lower and it is easier to get a feel for the rules.
  • Keep an eye on the boot amount — before sitting at a table, find out the boot amount and the maximum chaal limit so you can manage your session budget.
  • Fold quickly on a weak hand — it is better not to stay in a large pot with a high card or a weak pair, as losses grow with the pot.
  • Watch how others play — notice who is playing blind and who has suddenly raised their chaal; try to read these signals.
  • Use side show wisely — only request a side show when you are reasonably confident about your own hand.
  • Set a budget — before each session, decide the maximum you are willing to lose and stick to that limit.

Popular variants

Teen Patti has several variants built on the core rules, each with its own distinct features. bangor offers tables for different variants.

Classic Teen Patti

The original format — three cards, blind or seen betting, and a show. Played straightforwardly following all the standard rules.

Joker Teen Patti

One or two Joker cards are added to the deck. The Joker acts as a substitute for any card, making it relatively easier to land a Trio or Flush.

Muflis (Reversed ranking)

In this variant the rankings are reversed — the weakest hand wins. Strategy changes completely.

AK47

Ace, King, 4 and 7 cards act as Jokers. Building combinations becomes easier but decisions get more complex.

999

The highest possible score is 999. Ace counts as 1 here, so scores are built by adding up the card values.

Teen Patti 20-20

Two hands are dealt together and the player chooses which one to bet on. The game moves at a fast pace.

Casual card games like JILI's Callbreak Quick and Ludo Quick are also available at bangor. If you are looking for a different type of game, check out the slots section.

Common questions about Teen Patti

Teen Patti and poker share some similarities — both use hand rankings and involve betting to win the pot. But there are clear differences: in Teen Patti each player receives only three cards, there are no community cards, and the blind or seen strategy works differently from poker.

A blind player bets less but also gets a special rule — a seen player cannot challenge them to a side show directly until the blind player chooses to look at their cards. This creates psychological pressure. On the other hand, having to make decisions without seeing your cards also carries more risk.

A side show is a private comparison between two seen players. You can request a side show from the seen player next to you — if they agree, both of you compare your cards and the one with the weaker hand folds and exits. If the request is declined, you continue playing.

In Teen Patti 20-20, two hands are dealt each round and the player chooses which hand to bet on before the deal. The game moves faster and involves fewer complex decisions compared to the classic variant.

In Muflis, the ranking is completely reversed. The high card hand that is weakest in standard Teen Patti becomes the best hand in Muflis. So low-value cards like 2-3-5 put a player in a strong position. If you do not understand the rules beforehand, this variant can catch you off guard.
